THE PAINTER imagines what it would be like for Vincent van Gogh, shot by two boys in 1890, and is “transported” to NYC in 2022 to see his paintings not only cherished but that he is the most famous, duplicated, imitated and commercialized artist in history. It is a passionate story of art, love, life and redemption.

“Mayberry meets Oh, Brother! meets Twin Peaks”

TROUBADOUR is a, 8-episode series, a celebration of the music from America’s front porch. This is a NETFLIX/HULU/AMAZONEPRIME style series that leaves plenty of room for cameos by some of roots music biggest stars. For the better part of a century, millions of people have shown a genuine passion for rural, live audience broadcast shows . The success and legacy of the Grand Ole Opry, A Prairie Home Companion, Louisiana Hayride, Austin City Limits proves this has a global, loyal and pro-active audience. Modeled after the true-to-life broadcast of the WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour.

Set in the rural community of Midway, KY … a town that still has a milkman and a cafe’ with resplendent hamburgers.

Taking a hint from this legacy, a 30-ish songwriter decides to create his own live audience program in his mall town and finds surprising success, but with great struggle. This is the story of a songwriter trying to find his way through a collapsing music world, of his attempt to think outside the box while trying to support a pregnant, unhappy wife. It is the story of a small community of friends that help out his musical vision and a jealous, manipulative radio station owner that tries to take over his dream. And it’s the story of a young man who discovers the father he never knew.

The screenplay is peppered with dozens of cameos by famous musicians from the folk, bluegrass , country, rock and roots music world. As suggested in the screeplay:

Arlo Guthrie is the town VW mechanic.
Barry Abernathy as the father.
Emmylou Harris is the town doctor.
Tommy Emmanuel is the local instrument maker.
Steve Earle as the opinionated Mayor.
JD Crowe is the towen barber
Roger McGuinn is the preacher, and many more.
